Malala Day 10 Nov

10 November has been designated as Malala Day in honour of 15-year-old Malala Yousafzai, an education and gender equality advocate in Pakistan, who was seriously wounded when Taliban gunmen shot her in the head and neck while she was on a school bus in October. On 10 November, the UN Special Envoy for Global Education, Mr. Gordon Brown, will deliver a petition in support of Malala and the universal right to education. The UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is urging people around the world on 10 November to speak out for Malala Yousafzai and on behalf of the 61 million children worldwide still not in school.
